Frank Jerome, D.D.S., graduated from The Ohio State University in 1969. He spent two years as a naval officer attached to the Marines. He spent his second year of service in Viet Nam. Upon his return in 1971, he moved to Columbus, Indiana, where he has been in clinical practice since 1971. After years of continuing education courses, Dr. Jerome decided that it was wrong to continue placing mercury fillings in his patients. He stopped using mercury totally around 1980, the year the American Dental Association admitted it had not been truthful and that mercury did escape from mercury fillings. As he continued studying, he decided that there were other areas accepted by the dental profession that were not safe for patients. In 1992 he decided he could no longer do root canal therapy or use the other metals commonly used in dentistry. He also stopped placing new crowns because of the damage done during the crowning procedures. During his years of study, Dr. Jerome met Dr. Hulda Clark and has had a professional and personal relationship with her and her ideas. He has tried to balance what she recommends with what is possible within the dental practice laws. This is an ongoing problem and he hopes a new paradigm of dentistry will eventually evolve. The first edition of his book Tooth Truth reached thousands of interested people and he hopes that this expanded edition will cause a growing awareness among patients as to what is right for them. It is certain that the profession of dentistry will not change from within. It is up to patients to do what is best for them. As usual, patients are caught between the research and what is possible under the dental laws. There will be changes and we hope that some certainty will be soon found. |
